WWE Raw ended September in the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, as it continued the build toward Crown Jewel.
Roman Reigns returned to help Jey and Jimmy Uso defeat Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
Asuka and Kairi Sane again laid out Rhea Ripley, and The Empress of Tomorrow misted Iyo Sky this time around.
Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins continued to explore their history in a back-and-forth face-to-face.
Dominik Mysterio lied, cheated and stole his way to victory against Rusev to retain the Intercontinental Championship, while Raquel Rodriguez also picked up a win over Bayley to give The Judgment Day more momentum.
Monday was a wild night of action, selling Raw's biggest stories in emphatic fashion.
#1 Roman Reigns Returns to Save Bloodline Storyline
The return of Roman Reigns delivered an intriguing visual at the end of Raw. He talked up Jey Uso while a skeptical Jimmy Uso watched in the background. This was the first time all year that WWE has returned to the natural drama of The Bloodline, selling the strong dynamic between the cousins. While the new dynamic centralizes Jey over The OTC, the skepticism of Jimmy and the devotion of his brother is a familiar story SmackDown has told for years. The Bloodline story was supposed to pass on to Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu, but that angle never truly took off on the blue brand.Reigns, Jey and Jimmy have always been the heart of The Bloodline and made that so special. This new path forward might tap back into WWE's best modern story. The company needs that story back, as nothing has hit as cleanly as The Bloodline in this current decade. Raw, especially, could use a strong storyline like this to carry the brand.
#2 Asuka and Kairi Sane Shining in New Heel Roles
Last week, Asuka and Kairi Sane turned heel in an angle that felt special, and the excitement around the storyline has only grown since. The Empress of Tomorrow has fully committed to a gaslighting villain role, trying to guilt The Genius of the Sky into helping her based on their past mentorship history. The Pirate Princess will follow Asuka anywhere, even if she does not like it. Sane is the more sympathetic star, but she still hit Rhea Ripley with an InSane Elbow without much hesitation.Sane's sympathetic focus is making it difficult for Sky to accept that her friends are fully at fault, leaving her an uncertain ally for The Eradicator at Crown Jewel.Sky and Ripley have major potential as a top babyface tag team, but they cannot get to the top together if they cannot rely on one another. This story is outshining the rest of the women's division at present and gives Asuka especially a chance to become the top heel in the women's division.Sane also has a chance to truly find her footing as a top name through this angle. If the momentum continues, this is the best path to elevate Sky to undeniable top babyface status with a strong heel rival for years to come. This is a win-win for all involved.
#3 Time is Now For Dominik Mysterio to Break from The Judgment Day
Few men on Raw received as strong a reaction on Raw quite like Dominik Mysterio, and this is despite him still working as a heel on The Judgment Day.Working off a monster heel like Rusev helped that reaction, but it still does not feel like anyone knows how popular Dirty Dom can be.There is no reason to delay embracing this reaction. The Judgment Day is a midcard act that has mostly run its course. If anything, the stable might benefit from a break-up since Finn Bálor could become a stronger villain in direct conflict with Mysterio.WWE needs hot acts that fans can relate to and root for. Mysterio is the strongest choice right now among the heels on the roster to fit that role. The only thing that needs to change is his association with The Judgment Day. His character can remain nearly identical while feuding with villains from here on out.Fans enjoy his cockiness and cheap tactics. They just need a consistent reason to cheer him against his various rivals on the horizon.
#4 How WWE Can Make Crown Jewel Championship Actually Matter
Champion vs. champion rarely accomplishes much in professional wrestling if neither title is on the line. The Crown Jewel Championships ostensibly define who is the true No. 1 world champion in WWE, but nothing was done with the concept last year beyond the premium live event.Cody Rhodes and Liv Morgan did not utilize their respective men's and women's titles in any fashion after Crown Jewel. The loss cost both Gunther and Nia Jax momentum as titleholders, so it came off as a net negative for the company. This year, WWE can push this angle forward as long as the Crown Jewel Championship is highlighted on air throughout the next year.If Seth Rollins defeats Rhodes, he can run with the narrative that he is the true face of the company and throw his second title in any challengers' face.Tiffany Stratton has held the WWE Women's Championship for over 260 days while Stephanie Vaquer just won the Women's World Championship.A win for Stratton would clearly establish she is the gold standard of the current women's division. A win for Vaquer could be the next step in a dominant reign for La Primera that can last all the way past next year's Crown Jewel. For all champions, this victory should be seen as a badge of honor that cannot be taken away until next year's Crown Jewel, even if they lose their world titles in the meantime. If the Crown Jewel champion loses their primary world title, that championship can serve to push them back into the world title scene, possibly set up a rematch with the champion they defeated down the line to take their gold. The possibilities are bountiful, and the only way WWE can fail in executing this story is by ignoring it entirely once everyone has returned home from their Australian tour.
