Backstage WWE News On Original Plans For Finn Balor & Dominik Myste..

Top WWE star Finn Bálor’s time with The Judgment Day came to an abrupt end on Monday when Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, Liv Morgan, and Raquel Rodriguez turned on him and brutally attacked him.

In recent weeks, Bálor had been trying to distance himself from The Judgment Day as he aimed to return to the main event scene on his own. He refused to assist Mysterio in his Intercontinental Championship defense against Penta on last week’s RAW, which ultimately led to Mysterio losing the title. On Monday, Bálor explained his reasons for not helping Mysterio, stating he wanted him to learn to fight his own battles. He even admitted that perhaps WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio was right: Dominik is indeed a spoiled brat.

This angered Dominik, who shoved Bálor, prompting Bálor to respond with a Pele Kick. However, the odds quickly turned against Bálor when McDonagh sided with Dominik and his faction. The night ended with The Judgment Day standing tall.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Finn Bálor vs. Dominik Mysterio match was originally scheduled to take place at SummerSlam 2025. However, the creative team decided to pivot, believing that The Judgment Day’s storyline was still very strong at the time.

As a result, Dominik ended up defending the Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles at The Biggest Party of the Summer last August. Meltzer also noted that the initial plan was for Bálor to revive his Demon persona for that match.
